Wescott-Lahar
Driven by the complex emotions of personal loss and grief, my work is an abstract expression of ineffable feelings that resist clear definition. With sweeping gestural brushstrokes I express the variability of the experience of grief and joy, as they coexist.
The paintings are at times stark and aggressive; at other times, blurred and textural. But within these shifting visual spaces, each painting is an invitation for viewers to encounter their own emotional territories—a companion in the emotional gyrations of the human experience.
